Mastering the master bedroom

This is what my bedroom looked like when I moved in.

Pretty dull but a good size and with a fireplace.

The master bedroom looks ok in this picture doesn't it. That's because you can't see the plaster falling off the walls under the wallpaper. You also can't see the ripped section above the door. After renting this room out it also developed a moth problem and the carpet got ruined by makeup stains. It was time to take action!

Stripping the wallpaper off the ceiling of this room was literally the worst job I have ever done. I stood on a ladder holding a steamer over my head for hours with sweat and wallpaper paste pouring down me. As I pulled the wallpaper off bits of blown plaster fell on my head and into my eyes every time. When I attempted to remedy this by wearing goggles I was forced to abandon them because they immediately steamed up and made it impossible to see.

HOW ARE YOU MEANT TO DO THIS JOB?

It took me about a week to finish stripping the room. Then it was time to call in my favourite plasterer - Dave - who does plastering on stilts whilst blasting heavy trance music.

Dad helps paint the room a bright white.

Eventually we had it all painted white and I covered the floorboards with a grey/silver carpet that would be practical considering I have a grey long-haired cat.

Flowers from my best friend attractively styled with some plastic packets of Kleenex...
Yeh Home and Garden magazine should try this.

This is my trying to look posh display -
the Orchid is now dead but looks great on Instagram.
