Every woman deserves a beautiful dressing table to do their makeup at. It's a place where you can sit and take a moment for yourself, surrounded by things you love and that make you feel beautiful. It is a little pamper sanctuary of calmness.
But I had no dressing table. I simply did my makeup sitting on the floor by the mirror. I needed a dressing table and it had to be perfect.
After spending years looking I suddenly realised that the answer had been there all along. Years ago I had bought a desk in an antiques market in Greenwich and paid £40 for it. It had an ugly varnish finish and was rarely used. But it was actually the perfect dressing table! With sets of drawers on each side for makeup, jewellery and hair products and space to sit at it all it was missing was a mirror. I purchased a gold one to stand on top and a white stool from eBay.

The horrid varnish had to go. I sanded it off in the garden using my trusty mouse sander.

Then I painted the whole thing a chalky white. I also painted the back rest and insides of the drawers with glitter paint for a little surprise "bling".
