A Victorian modern bathroom
The basement bathroom frightened me. Spiders lurked in the small cracks ready to pounce and I even found the occasional slug (intrepid bastards).
After a visit by a dodgy plumber the shower got stuck on scolding hot and the toilet started all-day flushing. On top of that the boiler in the cupboard was leaking and rusting. The whole finish was shoddy, from the sealant that leaked water onto the floor and into the walls creating damp patches to the misaligned MDF of the cabinet.
My plan was to rent out the basement of my house. For this to work I needed a complete basement bathroom overall. First was the dangerous boiler which was replaced by the London Boiler Company within a day of my purchase. Next I found a site manager who's team were ready to do the whole thing in a week.
Since my house is Victorian we chose traditional yet hip white brick tiles and grouted them in grey so that the grouting would look cleaner longer and emphasise the tiling effect. We picked up the grey in the large floor tiles.
Wall being damp-proofed and floor tiles going in.
Wall tiles go in.
This is where the sink goes.
Of all the fittings only the shower cubical and shower were new. The boiler cupboard was fitted with new doors and an internal shelf for toiletries. We recycled the existing sink and toilet after it was fitted with a new motor and flush mechanism. And here is the result.
Sink and tiles all sparkly new. And look I dressed it for the pics.
