A sky blue welcome home

First impressions count. So if your front door is flakey dark green with cracks it's not exactly doing your house proud. Looking at my old front door you got the sense that this was a place unloved and certainly not a fun bright happy place. Without the money for a new dream doorway with stained glass sunshine rays, I did the next best thing...I renovated the one I had and the inspiration was the sky.

First I sanded off the flakes and filled the cracks. 

Then I chose a bright happy blue exterior paint. I wanted it to make me think of sunshiny summer days every time I came home. 

And this is what it looked like when I finished. 

I still want to add a bee for a knocker - but I'm just not sure there is space for it amongst the coving. Hmmm....
